The name “Fisherman’s Warf” is derived from the main function of San Francisco, particularly in the 19th century, and on into the 20th century. Stroll through the area in the early hours of the morning and you’ll see that Fisherman’s Warf is an excellent example of just how beautiful San Francisco really is.
Fisherman’s Warf is by far one of the most popular tourist destinations in all of San Francisco. Popular attractions include Pier 39, the Cannery Shopping Center, Ghirardelli Square, a Ripley’s Believe It or Not museum, the Musee, Mecanique, the Fisherman’s Warf wax museum, the world-famous Aquarium of the Bay, and the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. There are also a few other local spots along the Fisherman’s Warf that you’re probably going to want to make some time for.
No visit to San Francisco is truly complete without making some time for Fisherman’s Warf. Take the F Market streetcar to get to the area, which runs from the northern waterfront portion of San Francisco from Ghirardelli Square/Van Ness Avenue east to what could either be pier 35 or Kearny Street.
