A primarily residential neighborhood, Roslindale grew substantially as a suburb after streetcars simplified commuting to the city. Today, the area is well known for Roslindale Village (also known as Roslindale Square), which has a variety of shopping destinations and restaurants. Bordering Roslindale’s north end is the Arnold Arboretum, the second largest link in the impressive Emerald Necklace Conservancy. Arnold Arboretum features more than 200 acres of green, including thick flora, trails, picnic areas, and a museum. The area is within walking distance for Roslindale residents.
