Its proximity to numerous academic institutions brings a lot of students to Mission Hill. As a result, the neighborhood is a hotspot for nightlife and affordable restaurants. Sushi Station and the Squealing Pig are top notch establishments for those on a budget. Punter’s Pub and Flann O’Brien’s are local favorites for a decent beer and a good time. Mission Hill is also a great area for young professionals, where a reported 65% either bike, walk, or use public transit to get to work. Though the neighborhood fell victim to an urban renewal project of the 1950’s, much of the original architecture has survived including mansions and brick row houses. These are now historic sites. The Museum of Fine Arts, immediately south of Northeastern University is considered one of the best in the area, and frequently hosts local events and moving exhibits.
