Candy Wrapper Pumpkins

Turn trash into art with these candy-wrapped pumpkins. Track down some vintage candy wrapper re-prints for an extra-rustic look.

Instructions
Print copies of candy labels from Pinterest; cut into 1-inch strips. Attach to pumpkins using Mod Podge, working to line up the design as best as possible.

Glittery Pumpkin Mason Jars

Shimmery, glittery, and only a tiny bit scary. These delicate decorations take an afternoon to make.

Instructions
First you need to paint the mason jars. Use 3 coats of paint, which doesn’t take long because the mason jars are pretty small. Choose a pearly orange colour which gives you a soft, shimmery look.
Once the coats of pearl orange are finished, brush on some glittery orange paint. Let this dry.
Once all the base coats of paint are dry, the final touches are adding your Jack-o-lantern faces. Make them as silly or as traditional as you like! And there you have it: glittery pumpkin mason jars.

Pinecone Bats

An imaginative remix of a nature’s seasonal decor.

Instructions
To make this craft you will need:
Pinecones
Stiffened black felt
Scissors
Googly eyes
Hot glue gun

Directions:
Cut a set of bat wings from the stiffened black felt.
Slide the wings into the pinecone, then secure with hot glue.
Snip a couple of bat ears out of the felt scraps. Slide them into the pinecone, then secure with hot glue.
Attach the googly eyes to the pinecone with a dab of hot glue.
If desired, snip two little fangs out of white card stock (I just used junk mail!) and attach them with a tiny dot of hot glue.

Paper-Plate Spider (with Shoes!)

The shoes make the arachnid.

Instructions
All you have to do is attach pipe cleaners together by twisting them. Then, tape four to each side of the plate, bending at the ends so they look like feet. Finish with googly eyes, candy corn fangs, and mini shoes (we took these from Barbie).

Splatter Paint Pumpkin

A MakeSpace favorite!

Instructions
Finally, you can take advantage of the mess your kids make! After they paint pumpkins — real or fake — in a solid color, create the splatter paint mixture by mixing water with acrylic paint until it reaches a creamy consistency. Coat a craft brush or toothbrush with the paint mixture and lightly tap it repeatedly over the pumpkin to create a splattered effect.

Splatter Paint Candy Bags

Use these treat bags to dole out candy to trick-or-treaters, or as Halloween party favors.

Instructions
To make them, just mix water with acrylic paint until it reaches the consistency of heavy cream. Coat a craft brush with paint and then lightly tap it repeatedly over a small muslin drawstring bag. You can also use an old toothbrush by dipping it into paint and then, using your finger, flick the bristles onto the bag. Let it dry completely and repeat on the other side.
