5 Steps to a Productive Snow Day

5 Steps to a Productive Snow Day Expand options

During the hot summer months, you occasionally wish for a cool breeze and even the first snow day of the year. The moment you wake up to a snow-covered wonderland outside your window, it’s impossible not to feel a little dazzled. When that snow keeps you from getting to work, school or other responsibilities, however, it’s a little less magical.

After you’ve spent your time throwing snowballs and building forts, you’ll want indoor activities to pass the time.

Check out these five steps to a productive snow day. These steps will help you accomplish your goals, so you can get back into your routine and enjoy checking things off your to-do list.

1. Catch Up on Your Bookshelf

Snow days are the perfect opportunities to take a look at your bookshelf and get started on some of the ones you want to read. If you don’t have one in your home, visit your local library’s website to check out an e-book and learn something while you sit back and relax.

2. Prep Your Meals

Take a look in your pantry and learn how to prep meals so you can make life easy when things go back to normal.

Make something simple like sheet pan dinners, or try a new recipe that will make multiple portions. You might like meal prepping so much that you’ll use it in your daily routine after the snow and ice melt away.

3. Enjoy Indoor Exercises

It’s hard to cope with the restless feeling that starts after you’ve been cooped up inside for hours on end. When you feel the need to move, try easy indoor exercises like yoga or Pilates. You’ll get your blood flowing without pushing yourself too hard, although you can always modify the workouts to make them more intense if you need a challenge.

4. Get Creative With Tape

Have a few projects you want to do? Search through your closets and use painter’s tape in creative ways to get the job done. You can use it to repaint your walls, label containers, organize cords and more. It’s a sturdy form of tape that won’t permanently stick to your walls or belongings, so you can use it to accomplish anything from storage solutions to painting.

5. Learn a New Dance

You might feel bored because you haven’t moved in a few hours. If you don’t feel like exercising, learn a new dance instead. Pull up an instructional video or two and teach yourself to dance to your favorite songs. It’s fun to do on your own, and it may come in handy at a party later on.

Check Your To-Do List

Whether you write down your tasks on a physical to-do list or keep up with one in your mind, see what you can do next. You might organize the storage in your home, learn something new or experiment with meal prepping. These tips make any snow day fun, so you’ll feel like you had a great day when it’s time to pick back up with your daily routine.
